A community orchard has been planted in Littlehampton with the help of Brighton Permaculture Trust, in conjunction with Arun Parks staff, Arun and Worthing Mind, volunteers from St. Winefrides Community Garden, and the Arun Wellbeing Team.  Twenty-seven fruit trees were planted with the aim of encouraging the community to come together for activities such as apple pressing and fruit cookery lessons.  The orchard will also benefit wildlife and help preserve rare Sussex varieties.

Brighton Permaculture Trust is involved in a number of initiatives to encourage growing, harvesting and eating of local fruit, including planting school and community orchards and hosting an annual Apple Day celebration.
