What will the course cover?
The day course will cover the basics of how to nurture newly planted fruit trees during their vulnerable first few years – watering, feeding, pest and disease prevention are all included. You will also participate in some hands on apple cookery, make juice on a traditional apple press (which is available for hire to community groups), and get other ideas for how you might celebrate your apple harvest with your friends or community. Planned for the schools and communities with whom we have collaborated on the Local Fruit Futures project, we are able to open this course to anyone with an interest in caring for young fruit trees and/or those wishing to celebrate fruit and engage adults or children in making things with fruit.
